This page describes what HalalHooks collects and why. It is short because the site does little: it does not have accounts, it does not ask you to log in, and it does not sell anything.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages get used. It sets cookies and records things like the pages you visit, roughly where you are, and what kind of device you are on. The banner you saw on your first visit records your acknowledgement in your browser's local storage so it stops appearing.
Your location
When you press "Use my location", your browser asks your permission and then gives us your coordinates. We use them to find listings near you and we do not store them, unless you attach them to a submission (below). You can refuse, and the site still works — every city is browsable without it.
To centre the map sensibly on a first visit, the site also asks a third-party service (ipapi.co) to estimate your city from your IP address. That request comes from your browser, so that service sees your IP address. We do not keep the result.
Maps
The map is served by Google Maps, which sets its own cookies and receives requests from your browser under Google's privacy policy.
If you submit a listing
The form asks for your email address and a Google Maps link, and it attaches your coordinates if you have allowed location access. We store those so we can review the submission and come back to you about it. We do not add you to a mailing list.
If you report a problem with a listing
The report form asks what is wrong, any details you add, and your email address. We store them with the listing you reported so we can check it and email you if we need more information. Your email is never shown on the site and we do not add you to a mailing list. To slow down automated abuse, the site briefly counts reports per IP address in memory; that count is not stored.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not run advertising trackers or retargeting pixels.
- We have no user accounts, so there are no passwords or profiles here.
Your choices
You can block cookies in your browser, refuse location access, and ask us to delete a submission or report you sent us along with the email address attached to it. Ask through any of the contact routes and we will confirm when it is done.
